Aloha

As some of you may recall, the theme this year for our district was, "Enjoy the ride". I can say with assurance that have definitely enjoyed our ride through this school year. Of course, there have been students who have missed the bus a few times, the driver may have run a stop sign here or there and some may have missed the bus occassionally. That being said, we all still all gotten to our destination, and we did it enjoying all the way.

I'm so proud of this class. Throughout the year, there were many who struggled academically, socially and emotionally, but as a class, we were able to help each other.

Parents, I've been honored to teacher your children this year. They are each beautiful in every which way. I love each of them dearly and will miss them as they travel to intermediate school. With extreme confidence, I send them on and anticipate hearing about all the accomplishments they will make in 5th grade.

HAGS kids!
(HAVE A GREAT SUMMER)
Leaving you with a few pictures from part of our last day...the best part of the last day. While shooting each other with water syringes, we reviewed and reenacted parts of the Battle of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. In the end (which is the first pictures) a parent allowed students to shoot him with water all at once.

In ending this blog I say to my kids, "Aloha!" As many know this word has multiple meanings. Each morning I could have used aloha to mean hello and every afternoon the word could have been used to say goodbye. My favorite though is the way I feel about this class. Aloha...love and affection.

Funnest Day of the Year...FIELD DAY!

To say field day is the funnest day of the year is the understatement of the year. This is a day I anxiously and patiently wait for. The pictures express it all. I've been teaching at this school for three years. Out of those years, my classes have won Sportsmanship Award for two years, and last year my class received 3rd place. Greene's Gorillas for 2010-2011 won 2nd place! Go Gorillas!
Crazy class...
but a memorable class that will NOT be forgotten by me!

We've Got Talent

I was completely blown away by the talent that was shown in our Fourth Grade Talent show today. Even though we only  had two participants, I was busting with pride at how well the performed. Which ones are from our class? The lovely blue haired diva and the beautiful singer at the bottom, who, by the way, sang one of my favorite songs..."Jar of Hearts". I tried singing it later, but I didn't quite get the same response that she received during the show.

Reading Celebration!

All students who reached their AR goal each nine weeks and had an overall average of at least an 80% were able to attend the Royal Reading Celebration. This event is a ton of fun for the kids. There are 5 stations and we rotate through them...snacks (watermelon and bottled water), moonwalk, sidewalk chalk and jumping rope and hoola hooping, sprinklers and finally THE GIANT WATERSLIDES.

The students had a hoola hoop contest. Boys against...
GIRLS! At about 12 minutes of hoola hooping we had to call it a tie between two girls and two boys.
Don't forget to draw in her bow!
Careful, he's a little ticklish.
The boys didn't mind that they looked like ballerinas jumping over the sprinklers.
The fun has to end sometime!!

Ecosystems

Ecosystems science projects are coming home! There were some lucky students whose names were chosen to take home their ecosystems that were made in science. You will know if your child was one of those chosen if you find a terrarium and an aquarium at your house tonight.

Yahoo!

We are finally finished with all our TAKS testing! In fact, no more TAKS testing for these kids anymore! Don't get too excited though...TAKS is being replace by yet another test called STAAR.

You should all be proud of your children. They have worked hard and learned a lot this year. With the end of TAKS, does not mean the end of learning though! For the rest of the year, the students will be continuing to learn new information that will help them as they move up to 5th grade year.

We did celebrate with the end of TAKS testing with a Fun Friday last week. The kids brought their pillows and/or a stuffed animals. We watched a Tangled and ALL the kids enjoyed that...even the boys that were complaining it was a "girlie" movie. Students brought board games too.
